As I worked at the airport, I had a lot of chances to talk to English native speakers, that’s how my progress skyrocketed. I ended up taking almost all the sales from overseas customers and became a sales champion. Well, my former co-workers were not so happy about it! Then they ganged up to bully me at the workplace every day. After one year, I managed to pay off all the payment plans and save some money. That job wasn’t challenging anymore. So I left.

Then I joined an English translation course, at the same time teaching mandarin and going to college. I found actually learning a language can follow some certain patterns which I learnt from my translation teacher who’s one of the former interpreter for Chinese foreign ministry. After I graduated with distinction, the largest Chinese OTA company made an offer to me, I took that job. Finally I was living in my dreams. I finally became an interpreter and a translator.

Life is just like playing games, you think you passed one round, then game over? No, there’s always another round, another monster to fight. I decided to keep challenging myself, so I enrolled another course to become a simultaneous interpreter. I made friend with a former interpreter for Chinese ministry of commerce and the professor who taught me was an eminent lecturer for the Chinese government. I was with people I’ve never dreamed of.

A bad teacher could ruin a student’s entire life, then she needs to spend the rest of her life curing her wounds. In some cases, these wounds would never be healed. While a good teacher would help a student to turn the table. This is exactly why I establish my Chinese learning website.

Many people believe a language is just a language, but from what I see, language is a golden key which will allow you to open many doors of opportunities, you’ll see many possibilities in yourself. Speaking a new language allows you to get prompted and get a huge business deal, your language edge will transform your life.

Because the life you want, the marriage you want, the family you want are all going to be fueled by the business you build or the career you have. You will see many possibilities in yourself. You will see the best version of yourself. The sky’s the limit!

When I was at my 1st job, I didn’t understand why life was so hard on me, even though I did nothing wrong. All these blood, sweat and tears made me who I am today. If it’s not because of my 1st job as a sales person, I would never known I have a strong passion in languages. If it’s not because my language edge, I wouldn’t be able to realize my dream as an interpreter.

Looking back, all dots are connected. My life happen for me, not to me. Now, every time I face difficulties, I would think of a Chinese proverb:

When Heaven intends to confer a great responsibility upon a person, it first visits his mind and will with suffering, toils his sinews and bones, subjects his body to hunger, exposes him to poverty, and confounds his projects. Through this, his mind is stimulated, his nature strengthened, and his inadequacies repaired.
